Our Client is currently hiring for a Construction Staff Accountant for their growing construciton and disaster restoration company. Candidates who have 3 plus years of Accounting experience within the construction industry are also encouraged to apply.


The Construction Staff Accountant will report to Operations/Owner and is responsible for directing the company's accounting function, with a focus on ensuring accurate and timely job level financial data. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:. Responsible for cost management, job billing and subcontract management. The ongoing responsibilities will include preparing and posting owner billings, review project projections, job and budget entry, budget maintenance, job cost analysis, and manage subcontractor billing.


Major Responsibilities:


Create and maintain a system for weekly review of job level financial data to ensure completeness and accuracy
Responsible for ensuring jobs are closed out in a timely manner. Work cross functionally to resolve financial issues, obtain sign off and close jobs in a timely manner.
Manage daily accounting activities performed by staff including AP, A/R and Payroll
Assist controller with monthly accounting close and production of periodic financial statements and ad hoc reporting
Ensure all transactions are recorded to the correct GL account and cost center
Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts including bank, fixed asset, prepaids, expense accruals, revenue, and payroll
Maintain fixed asset subledger
Help prepare month end journal entries and expense allocations
Responsible for General Ledger & Other system maintenance including ADP, Concur, Bank and PSA Job Management
Provide information to external CPA firm when needed for tax and regulatory filings
Participate in budgeting and forecasting process and enter budgets into GL


Required Skill/Knowledge:



  • Excellent communications skills

  • Basic understanding of percentage completion and calculation of over and under billings

  • Experience in working effectively in billing and collections

  • Good people skills; team focused

  • Strong computer skills


Preferred Skills/ Knowledge:



  • Minimum 3 years construction project accounting experience.

  • Proficient with MS Office and MS Outlook.

  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to think analytically and manage multiple priorities.

  • Demonstrated effective time management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills.


Preferred Education Level:



  • B.S in Accounting/Finance or related field.
