JOB DESCRIPTION: CONTROLLER Seeking a Controller to oversee and maintain day-to-day bookkeeping operations. There are currently five departments within of our business: full-service interior design, a collection of made-to-order furniture, inventoried textiles sold by the yard, full-service furniture manufacturing, and a showroom gallery in West Hollywood. This position will be heavily involved in all five divisions of the business.
The ideal candidate will have a background in the interior design industry and must possess an ability to navigate with ease between the various departments within our business and their respective nuances as they relate to bookkeeping.
Responsibilities Facilitate payroll. Facilitate payment of all operational expenses including rent, building maintenance, independent contractors, etc. Draft and share proposals with interior design clients related to fees, furniture, and textile purchases. Process vendor payments for all interior design purchases. Review all credit card statements, working closely with our accountant to ensure correct categorization of all expenses within our accounting software. Work closely with our accountant to prepare various reports required for tax returns. Work with both our outside sales tax specialist and utilize Studio Webware to ensure accurate monthly sales tax payments to the State Board of Equalization. Receive and apply inbound payments from our showroom representatives and interior designers for our furniture collection. Issue payments to our workrooms corresponding to purchase orders generated by the Director of Production for our furniture collection. Work closely with our outside office specialist to invoice all orders in a timely fashion to allow for accurate and timely financial reports. Issue payments to textile mills and fabricators for our textile collection. Ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices from our textile showroom sales representatives on net terms. Coordinate receipt of all direct payments from interior designers with our textile sales team for all direct orders to ensure timely release of orders. Required Qualifications 3 years bookkeeping experience within the interior design industry Proficiency with Studio Webware Familiarity with a variety of payment types including wire, ACH, check, credit card and other digital payments Proficiency with MS Office Skilled multi-tasker, able to wear many hats throughout each day across departments
