Travel Demand Modeler (Mid-Level), sought by Cambridge Systematics, a strategic planning and management services company, to perform the following job duties:

Utilize the multifaceted Evansville Metropolitan Planning Organization (EMPO) regional travel demand model by applying advanced mathematical and engineering design principles. Complete multifaceted traffic operation analysis and build simulation models using highly advanced transportation engineering forecasting software. Maintain, enhance, and develop EMPO’s unique transportation models by utilizing sophisticated control systems modeling and control systems programming techniques. Execute intricate transportation system planning and project prioritization as well as conduct project-level alternative analysis. Perform complex mathematical calculations of estimate travel time, delay, and level of service as proposed by metropolitan transportation design plans by utilizing highly advanced mathematical engineering theories. Analyze and conduct comprehensive research on constructions costs, government regulations, potential environmental hazards, and other factors during the modeling, planning, and risk-analysis stages of transportation projects.


Requirements include a Master’s degree or its equivalent in Civil Engineering or a closely related field, and five years of experience in the job offered or related field of transportation planning.

Must have the following:

• Five years of experience with travel demand model design, development and application using professional modeling software packages and programming language such as TransCAD and GISDK.
• Five years of experience with geographic Information Systems (GIS) visualization and data processing using professional GIS applications such as ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap.
• Five years of experience with big data analysis and application using big data products such as StreetLight Data.
• Five years of experience with microsimulation model building and traffic operation analysis using professional software packages such as TransModeler and HCS.
• Five years of experience with air quality quantitative analysis using Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Motor Vehicle Emission Simulator (MOVES).
• Five years of experience with regional Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) architecture maintenance using USDOT’s Regional Architecture Development for Intelligent Transportation (RAD-IT) software packages
• Five years of experience with developing customized transportation planning analysis tools using programming languages such as Python and ArcPy in ArcGIS Pro.
