Independently spearhead due diligence of potential investment targets in the biomedical industry with minimal supervision, including collecting data from freely available information on the internet (5%). Utilize Bloomberg terminal, BamSEC and comparable tools to analyze market opportunities (10%). Analyze SEC filings and other financial documents to assess potential investments (5%). Contribute to the development of new company ventures (5%). Prepare materials and reports for internal investment committee meetings (5%). Present findings to the internal investment committee and provide critical input on financing decisions (5%). Utilize advanced financial modeling techniques to independently forecast and assess investment opportunities (5%). Screen business plans and evaluate investment proposals (5%). Conduct comprehensive analysis of scientific and clinical data, extracting valuable insights, including reading and summary of company materials and review articles, analysis of primary scientific literature, identifying suitable key opinion leaders (KOLs) and conducting KOL calls (15%). Utilize 'UpToDate' and ‘Onkopedia’ database to put clinical data of target companies into treatment context to assess viability (5%). Thoroughly assess intellectual property and commercial landscapes to inform investment strategies by screen Google Patent database for existing patents and conducting background research to evaluate commercial landscapes (5%). Prepare and lead internal meetings that involve scientific advisors or limited partners (LPs), and manage all stakeholders appropriately (10%). Undertake operational and strategic responsibilities for current and potential portfolio companies, including preparing and leading portfolio company check-in calls with scientific advisors, representing the company on board observer seats, and attending quarterly board meetings (10%). Represent Nextech at scientific and financial conferences (5%). Provide mentorship and guidance to junior fellows and interns, fostering growth within the team (5%).

15% domestic and international travel required. Employer covers all travel costs.

Job Requirements: Must have a PhD or foreign equivalent degree in Cancer Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or Biochemistry, plus 1 year of experience as a Fellow, Investment Analyst, or substantially similar position.

Special Skills: 1 year of experience with: support due diligence of potential investment targets in the biomedical industry by assisting in research and data collection using freely available information on the internet; prepare materials and reports for internal investment committee meetings; screen business plans and evaluate investment proposals; support scientific and clinical data analysis by analyzing materials provided by companies, reading review articles, conducting analysis of primary scientific literature, identifying suitable key opinion leaders (KOLs) and conducting KOL calls; and evaluate IP and commercial landscapes by screening Google Patent database for existing patents and conducting background research to evaluate commercial landscapes.
