Position: Geotechnical Engineer

Location: Mile Post 263, Florida Turnpike Building – Building 5315, Ocoee, FL 34761



Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related. 2 years of experience as a Geotechnical Engineer, Civil Engineer, or related. Experience must include: Design shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, and support of excavation systems; Perform slope stability and seepage analyses using Geostudio software (SLOPE/W and SEEP/W); Perform finite element analysis using software Plaxis 2D to support/enhance geotechnical design; Prepare geotechnical calculation packages, structures and roadway geotechnical reports, and technical specifications in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal code requirements; Oversee drilling investigations (SPTs, Auger borings, infiltration tests, etc.)



Duties: Apply knowledge of concepts, terminology, principles and analytical techniques of geotechnical engineering, engineering design, construction, production, and/or operations; Plan, organize and coordinate work assignments, and determine work priorities to ensure proper completion of work assignments, direct highly complex and specialized construction engineering administration, and inspection program; Review design submittals (plans, reports and calculations), foundation installation plans (piles, drilled shafts, auger cast piles), and shop drawings; Coordinate dynamic testing (PDA), drileed shaft testing and vibration monitoring field schedule (Design Bid Build projects only); Review production pile lengths and driving criteria letters (Design-Bid-Build projects only); Review data of foundation tests (PDA, CSL, thermal integrity tests), foundation installation records (piles, drilled shaft, auger cast piles & prestressed soil anchors), and foundation certification packages (Design-Bid-Build projects only); Oversee foundation installation operations (pile driving, drilled shaft, auger cast piles), and retaining wall construction (soldier pile walls, MSE walls, sheet mpile walls); Review vibration monitoring data and reports; Coordinate vibration monitoring on Design-Bid-Build projects.
