Anesthesiologist
Place of Performance: Clarksburg, WV

General Description:
Anesthesiologist shall provide clinical Anesthesiology services. Shall be present on time for any scheduled clinics/surgeries as documented by physical presence in the clinic or operating room at the scheduled start time.

Specific Tasks:
Provide comprehensive clinical anesthesiology services to include, but not limited to, patients undergoing cardiac surgery, orthopedic joint replacement, and major vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, plastic, ENT, urologic, and ophthalmologic surgeries.
Provide clinical care of patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal and radiological suites, to include MRI.
Provide primary coverage for all patients in the surgical intensive care, short stay unit, acute and chronic pain management services, diagnostic trans esophageal echocardiography for medical and surgical patients, and emergency airway management.
Provide consultative services at the patients bedside if the patient is not ambulatory and, in the clinic, setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic.
The following is a list of unique competencies the Chief of Surgery Service expects the anesthesiologist shall have:
1. Preoperative evaluation.
2. Intravenous conscious/moderate sedation.
3. Management of fluid, electrolyte, and metabolic parameters.
4. Airway management, basic and complicated, including all associated devices and techniques.
5. Invasive monitoring (Pulmonary Artery Catheter, Central Venous, Arterial Lines)
6. Local and regional anesthesia with and without sedation, including topical and infiltration, minor and major nerve blocks.
7. Management of intraoperative complications.
8. Management of PACU problems.
9. Peripheral nerve block to include major plexus block.
10. Manipulation of body temperature.
11. Manipulation of cardiovascular parameters.
12. Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation including tracheal intubation, ventilation, and basic and advanced CPR monitoring.
13. Joint and bursa sac injection.
14. Trigger point injection.
15. Cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and caudal blocks.
16. Differential spinal blocks.
17. Cervical, brachial, and lumbar plexus blocks.
18. Stellate ganglion blocks.
19. Celiac plexus blocks.
20. Lumbar sympathetic blocks.
21. Regional blocks of the head, neck, and limbs.
22. Blocks for the treatment of cephalgia.
Follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all Anesthesiology clinical or surgical patients.
Complete the appropriate QM/PI documentation pertaining to all procedures, complications, and outcome of examinations.
Follow all established patient safety and infection control standards of care.
Shall make every effort to prevent medication errors, falls, and patient injury caused by acts of commission or omission in the delivery of care.
All events related to patient injury, medication errors, and other breeches of patient safety shall be reported.

License:
Shall have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia).

Certification:
Board Certified /Board Eligible by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) preferred.
Shall be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Shall be currently certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Continuing Medical Education (CME)/ Certified Education Unit (CEU), continuing education courses required for maintaining certification.
