Job Description

As a Senior Underwriter, your expertise will be a valuable addition to our department’s ongoing growth. Your role will entail the prompt and efficient handling of all files, leveraging your exceptional communication and analytical skills. Moreover, you will uphold a standard of excellence in customer service, fostering positive daily interactions both internally and externally. Your contributions will be instrumental in nurturing superior relationships with our brokers, further solidifying our position in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply standard rates, compute premiums accurately, and underwrite new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations in accordance with company guidelines and industry standards.
• Analyze and assess complex risks, implementing effective pricing strategies and adhering to rigorous underwriting standards to ensure sound decision-making.
• Collaborate closely with brokers to verify information accuracy, clarify coverage details, and provide clear interpretations to ensure understanding.
• Serve as a point of escalation for junior underwriters, handling referrals within predefined authority levels and providing guidance and support as needed.
• Monitor the profitability of assigned clients and brokers, devising strategies and action plans to recommend corrective measures as necessary to maintain or improve financial performance.
• Cultivate strong and mutually beneficial relationships with agents and brokers, fostering trust, collaboration, and satisfaction to enhance partnership effectiveness.
• Analyze broker portfolios thoroughly and offer insights and recommendations to optimize performance and align with organizational objectives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in underwriting
• Demonstrated proficiency in customer service, interpersonal communication, and both verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated expertise in negotiation, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• CIP designation, either completed or in progress
