Title: Manager Ill, Software Development
Location: 10000 Washington Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232


Duties: Manage software development team tasked with building or solving complex software problems, often at the architectural level, and influence other teams that overlap in business/technology areas. Provide tactical and strategic management by leading team to invent, evolve, and deprecate software solutions. Scope projects and evaluate releases to ensure they meet business needs and discern which features are essential, can be triaged, or omitted. Determine areas where to simplify, optimize, or extend solutions for the best outcomes, and make trade-offs (short-term vs. long-term needs) as required. Drive resolution to software architecture deficiencies. Handle problems, decisions, and escalations, mitigate long-term risks, and find a path forward in difficult situations. Effectively hire, manage performance, coach, and promote direct reports. Participate in strategic initiatives (1-3 year), write effective communications (e.g., Mission, Tenets, PR/FAQ, etc.) and provide input into strategic planning documents. Position reports into Culver City, CA office; however, telecommuting from a home office may be allowed.

Requirements: Requires a Bachelor’s in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a directly related field plus 8 years of experience as Software Engineer Lead, Principal Engineer, Engineering Manager, or other occupation/position/job title involving software management.

Experience may be gained concurrently and must include:

Eight (8) years in the following:
- Managing or coaching software engineers.

Five (5) years in each of the following:
- Designing and implementing distributed systems
- Project management
- Strategic team or stakeholder management.

Three (3) years in the following:
- Software architecture.
