Senior Accountant (Washington, DC) (multiple positions). Manage receipt and recording multi-million-dollar foundation grants process for all donor revenue and reconcile expenditures within a particular fiscal year. Compile year-end reports and analysis necessary to ascertain year-end carry forward funds and prepare year-end schedules for the yearly audit in compliance with GAAP revenue standards. Generate budgets for Business Development and track project spending. Collaborate with project owners to ensure compliance with the funder’s constraints. Manage deliverables, monitor spending, request amendments, and plan spend-out. Help the team improve and maintain efficient and effective accounting and financial management infrastructure including processes, procedures, and internal controls. Advise on solutions to complex accounting problems. Ensure monthly closing entries for grant revenue and expenditures, including internal allocations of fringe benefits and indirect costs. Manage staff allocations and updates to Excel-based financial tracking spreadsheets. Prepare payroll for processing via Inova-Payroll/HCM system. Salary: $84,592 to $99,500 per year. Requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting or Finance, or a related field, and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or a related accountant position at non-profit research and grantmaking organization. Also requires two (2) years of experience with each of the following: (1) using QuickBooks and Excel to prepare financial reports and perform monthly reconciliations of accounts; (2) using Inova Payroll system to manage, track and reconcile staff time to project budget; (3) integrating Salesforce with bill payment system; (4) managing staff travel through Amtrav travel booking system; and (5) training personnel on office finance systems and procedures.
