This role is for someone who loves data, loves getting their hands dirty and then enjoys building platforms and systems to empower others to access data. Primary responsibilities include maintaining EverQuote's Data Platform that serves the entire company, work with internal customers who are looking to incorporate new types of data into the platform and participate in design and buildout of next generation data platforms as technology and the data landscape evolves. Telecommuting from within the U.S. allowed.



Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or closely related field and some experience in information technology or software engineering gained through coursework or internships.



Special Requirements: Position requires some experience through coursework or internships in the following:



Strong grasp of relational database concepts, including data modeling, normalization and the ability to write complex SQL queries for querying and updating data. Familiarity with popular relational database management systems like MySQL and PostgreSQL.

Proficiency in writing clean, efficient, and maintainable Python code, including understanding of object-oriented programming principles. Familiarity with relevant Python frameworks and libraries such as Django, Flask, SQLAlchemy, and others that can expedite development.

Familiarity with modern software development practices including proficiency with version control systems like Git; Knowledge of various testing methodologies, frameworks, and tools to ensure code quality through unit, integration, and functional testing; Ability to identify and fix bugs in code efficiently using debugging tools; and, Experience with deploying applications to production environments, including knowledge of server setup, configuration, and cloud platforms.

Ability to analyze complex problems, break them down into smaller components and identify solutions.

Ability to clearly convey ideas, collaborate with team members, and explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Work effectively as part of a development team, share knowledge and contribute positively to group projects.
