Summary / Role Purpose

The R&D Engineer II contributes to the support and development of software platform for developers and supporting systems. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to accomplish development objectives.The R&D Engineer II works under the general supervision of a development manager and/ or with other team leads.


Key Duties and Responsibilities


Understanding Development Technologies:

Demonstrate proficiency in various development technologies and stay updated with emerging trends.
Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies based on project requirements and objectives.

Understanding Customer Requirements and Project KPIs:

Collaborate with stakeholders to comprehensively understand customer requirements and project Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Work with your team to translate developer needs into actionable development plans and strategies.

Implementing Various Development, Testing, Automation Tools, and IT Infrastructure:

Utilize a range of development, testing, and automation tools to streamline project workflows and enhance efficiency.
Help to design and implement robust IT infrastructure to support development processes and ensure scalability.

Working with Stakeholders and External Interfaces:

Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including developers, IT, and vendors.
Serve as a point of contact for external interfaces, ensuring clear communication and alignment with project objectives.

Setting Up Tools and Required Infrastructure:

Work on the setup and configuration of development tools and infrastructure necessary for project execution.
Provide guidance and support to team members regarding tool usage and infrastructure setup.

Troubleshooting Techniques and Code Bug Fixing:

Employ effective troubleshooting techniques to identify and resolve issues throughout the development lifecycle.
Collaborate with the development team to address code bugs and implement solutions in a timely manner.


Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2 years experience or MS
Working experience with software design and development methodologies for platforms


Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Experience with: RESTful APIs, ADO/TFS, GitHub, Artifactory, Docker, Kubernetes and Containers, , C#, Python YAML, etc.
Basic understanding of the software development process
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
Maintain and optimize workflows as it relates to developer velocity.
