As a TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) and MIG (Metal Inert Gas) Welder, you will be responsible for performing welding operations to join various metal components using TIG and MIG welding techniques. Your primary duty will be to ensure the accurate and efficient welding of metal parts, meeting specific project requirements, and maintaining high-quality standards. This role requires a thorough understanding of welding processes, safety protocols, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding specifications.

Responsibilities:

  1. Welding Operations:
  • Set up and prepare welding equipment, including gas tanks, welding torches, and filler rods.
  • Perform TIG and MIG welding techniques to join metal components according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Ensure the accuracy and precision of welds to meet project requirements and quality standards.
  1. Blueprint Interpretation:
  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and specifications to understand welding requirements and dimensions.
  • Use knowledge of welding techniques to select appropriate methods for different materials and thicknesses.
  1. Material Preparation:
  • Clean and prepare metal surfaces to be welded, removing rust, dirt, grease, or other contaminants.
  • Measure and mark materials for accurate alignment and positioning.
  1. Safety and Quality Control:
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and company policies to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Conduct visual inspections of completed welds to verify weld quality and detect defects or imperfections.
  • Perform necessary rework or repairs as needed to meet quality standards.
  1. Equipment Maintenance:
  • Maintain welding equipment by cleaning, inspecting, and performing regular maintenance tasks.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to supervisors for prompt resolution.
  1. Communication:
  • Collaborate with team members, engineers, and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and project completion.
  • Communicate any challenges or concerns related to welding tasks and processes.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification in TIG and MIG welding techniques is preferred but not always mandatory; relevant welding experience may suffice.
  • Proficiency in TIG and MIG welding processes, with the ability to produce high-quality welds.
  • Familiarity with different types of metals and welding techniques suitable for each.
  • Understanding of welding symbols and blueprint reading.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and practices related to welding.
  • Attention to detail and precision in welding tasks.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and work in various positions.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
