To support of our growth, we are looking to increase our Systems Engineering staff with individuals who have a keen interest in applying leading edge technologies and real-time analytics to solve operations, business and security critical needs in the rail transportation industry. This position will be part of an already talented team of professionals that define and demonstrate to our customers mission critical problem-solving solutions.

Responsibilities

As the Engineering leader for one or more projects, this position is responsible for progressing the approved design for the proposed system, and then the succeeding cycles for implementation, test demonstration and closeout. For large and complex solution deliveries, you will manage and mentor a Project Engineering assigned to work support you for the delivery of a high-quality solution. Several specific tasks for the System Engineer are;

• Obtains customer sign-off before commencing deployment of the targeted solution


• Design, manage and maintain the quality and performance throughout the delivery cycle


• Communicate as needed with customer to coordinate the technical resources, test and train


• Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools


• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability


• Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes


• Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency


• Provide logs and coordinate testing with internal and 3rd party engineers as needed


• Liaise with the project manager, the customer’s technical teams, to keep them informed of the progress and expectations as the project progresses.

Requirements

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, 5-7 years of System Engineering experience in a technical service industry, or 4-5 years of Electrical Engineering/Systems Development experience in the Public Transportation Industry, preferable rail. Demonstrated experience developing requirements, design and testing documents are a real plus.

• Preferred direct hands on experience in the implementation of on-board rail vehicle communications or passenger information solutions.

• Experienced working with Rail industry standards and practices.

• Proven experience for directing the installation, configuration, diagnosis and troubleshooting systems within a MS-OS/Linux, and Android based environments.

• Proven experience working with the MS family of products including Access and SQL db. Experience in debugging administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g.,Tomcat, JBoss, Apache) is a plus

• Strong skills to develop and progress solutions employing WiFi, and Cellular communications and integration with land-based Radio systems, and VoIP technology

• Comfortable with the use of MS-Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, Visio) to document and communicate internally and externally

• A people oriented, success driven, self-motivated person to mentor and lead your Engineering team and work with the Product Manager(s) and Project Manager(s) to coordinate successful project development and delivery.
