AmeriCorps is your moment to take the path less traveled, to break the status quo, to stop talking about the problem and be the solution. AmeriCorps is an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to dedicate their time and skills to get things done -- building safer, stronger, healthier, and more united communities across the nation.

Harvesters is proud to be a part of the national service movement. AmeriCorps members serving at Harvesters gain valuable skills -- plus professional and educational benefits. Most importantly, their service has a lasting impact on the communities served.

At Harvesters, our core values emphasize the characteristics we seek in team members. We are mission driven, accept personal responsibility, empower colleagues, value teamwork, are innovative, show trust and respect, contribute to a quality service environment and are open communicators.

Community Engagement AmeriCorps members take lead role in creating and implementing new community engagement events, including volunteer recruitment and management or coordinating food donation logistics with transportation and warehouse staff, and entering data to track project success. Coordinate all aspects of at least one ongoing community engagement program within the department, including a process improvement plan. Create and implement new activity or event which will educate, engage, or empower the community to support Harvesters’ mission. Occasionally supervise volunteers in the Volunteer Engagement Center where donated perishable and non-perishable food items are sorted and repackaged. Give tours of the facility, engage with the groups and individuals in a variety of settings about Harvesters’ mission and how to get involved. Develop and conduct service learning activities for youth groups and families in conjunction with community engagement events and national days of service. Provide excellent customer service via phone and email, to new and current supporters by coordinating logistics for community-based food donation programs or individual and group volunteer visits.
