We are seeking an enthusiastic and suitably qualified robotics and control engineer for Robot/UAV development projects. The project is to design and manufacture an autonomous robot/UAV that can perform autonomous navigation, 3D perception, geospatial mapping for field survey.



 



Responsibilities of the full-time candidates include some of the following:



1. Continue the development of existing ROS algorithms for navigation and localization of autonomous robots



2. Use of Gazebo and RViz to simulate robot/UAV in a virtual environment.



3. Test prototype robot/UAV to improve and finalize navigation and localization algorithms prior to real world testing.



4. Use of IMU and cameras to determine exact position relative to arbitrary starting point.



5. Add SLAM mapping capability in addition to path mapping.



6. Strong experience in the robot UI/UX development and integration testing in field conditions.



 



Qualifications/Experience:



1. A Master’s or PhD in Computer Vision or Robotics, Electrical and Computer Science, computer science and engineering or with equivalent work experience.



2. Knowledge of autonomy, machine learning, and computer vision algorithms, data structures, and sensor data commonly used in autonomous vehicles.



3. Demonstrated ability to build, test, and deliver robust autonomous vehicle software capabilities in complex real-world environments using Robotic Operating System (ROS) or ROS2, and other existing libraries and tools.



4. Robot Operating System (ROS) and ROS Version 2 (ROS2) software frameworks and build systems (catkin, ament, colcon).



5. Strong algorithm development, implementing and testing knowledge in embedded real-time SW in Python, C++ or Matlab with strong debugging skills



6. Experience with SLAM e.g. IMU, monocular, stereo, visual-inertial, LiDAR or RGBD cameras (ZED or Kinect etc) and associated drivers.



7. Computer Vision Experience on Pose Estimation, Object Recognition,and 3D Perception and point cloud data interpolation experience for obstacle avoidance.



8. Experience with version control systems especially Git and continuous integration tools like Travis, Jenkins or GitLab



Any of the following would be a plus



1. Industrial experience in commercial development of computer vision-enabled robotics products



2. Experience with continuous integration, deployment, and release management tools



3. Proven system integration and software architecture skills



4. Experience in some or all of the following: ROS (mandatory), image processing, robotics, machine vision, and deep learning.



5. Good team working ethic but able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
