Responsibilities



JLGOV is a small business IT and Cyber firm seeking IT interns who will support the maintenance of hardware, software, and other systems. They must troubleshoot issues with equipment like printers, computers, and servers with remote tools. They run software updates, backups when requested and support installing and troubleshooting Anti-Virus issues. IT interns may participate in the development of new laptops, servers, or applications or troubleshoot issues with remote management and monitoring tools. They may research IT procurement options or buys for customers and report pricing and system options to the supervisor. They may also research unusual bugs or issues the company encounters.



 




  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must be within 25 miles of Hampton Roads Virginia

  • Must pass a background check

  • Engages with customers or clients and provides service and/or sales.

  • Provide suggestions to management for improving customer service and internal processes.

  • Learns and becomes proficient in internal software systems.

  • Assists in creating performance reports.

  • Learn and assist with develope technical proposals



 



Education



IT interns must be in pursuit of a degree in computer science, information technology, or engineering with an average GPA of 2.80. They must be in their junior or senior year and have a class schedule that allows the student to work at least four days each week for at least 4 hours each day. Interns candidates should have some education in IT helpdesk support, programming, database management, and technologies like MS Azure, MS Office, and/or writing scripts.



 



Skills



IT interns must take direction well and be motivated self-starters. They must be open and excited to learn new technologies. They must have strong communication skills, both written and oral, must be attentive and attention to detail is required. They should be customer service-oriented and learn techniques to best serve clients.



 


Compensation

Interns often work without pay but receive course credit for their work in the field. They gain valuable practical



experience in a real work setting and potential compensation with JLGOV.
