Pro Shop Associate



SUMMARY


Pro Shop Associate is a key member of the team that greets and assists customers arriving at the golf course. He or she demonstrates courtesy and knowledge when responding to customer questions, in person and over the telephone, and completes sales transactions accurately in the point of sale system. The Pro Shop Associate assures that merchandise displays are attractively arranged, and the surrounding areas are attractively arranged and neat and clean. The Pro Shop Associate opens or closes the Pro Shop, following standard operating procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.




  • Greets all golfers and guests with superior customer service and courtesy, in-person and over the phone. Promptly answers the telephone and records requests for tee times and other reservations. Takes personal responsibility for satisfying each customer’s inquiry or concern.

  • Accurately and efficiently completes all sales transactions. Handles cash accurately and in accordance with company cash management procedures. Performs opening or closing procedures and accurately prepares deposits and cash variance reports in accordance with company cash management procedures. Assures that the cash drawers and change are at all times secured appropriately. Reports any variances immediately to the manager on duty.

  • Assures the appearance of the pro shop and merchandise displays are clean, neat and appropriately stocked. Vacuums, dusts, arranges merchandise, cleans windows and doors daily. Refills supplies including scorecards and pencils. Participates in merchandise inventory counts as needed.

  • Assures that all aspects of opening or closing shift procedures are completed to full satisfaction. This assignment will require directing, instructing and follow up with other staff to assure completion of closing procedures. This assignment does not establish a supervisory role over other staff.

  • May function as starter/ranger or cart attendant as needed from time to time.

  • Assists the Professional Golf Staff during special events and golf outings to assure complete customer satisfaction.

  • Must have reliable transportation.

QUALIFICATIONS:



To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:



High School degree and minimum six months related experience in a pro shop or other retail environment, preferably in the golf or hospitality industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.





CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:



Valid driver’s license.





COMPUTER SKILLS:



To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: time keeping software; Point of Sale Software; Tee Time Software and Tournament Set-up Software.





SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT:



This position will use the following equipment while fulfilling these duties.



Motorized vehicles including but not limited to golf carts, utility carts, shuttle carts and beverage carts.



Power washer and ball washer



Clothes washer and clothes dryer





PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods of time and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, carry, push and pull items up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to safely operate a golf cart.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
