Job Description:




  • Responsible for the design and development of digital/Analog/Audio hardware designs for radio products.

  • Performs significant engineering Digital/Analog/Audio design tasks, detailed experimental testing, operational test and fault isolation on radio products. 

  • Evaluates results to assist in development and problem resolution. 

  • Responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic parts, components or circuitry for radio products in the areas of design tasks. Determines design approaches and parameters.  

  • Analyzes electrical requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.  Determines selection of components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.

  • Performs electrical and/or mechanical debug/troubleshooting to determine cause of problems in radio equipment. 

  • Uses test and diagnostic equipment to evaluate radio products performance. 

  • Documents designs and test results.  Provides detailed test reports. 

  • Updates and maintains Engineering documentation includes schematic capture of designs. 

  • Provides support for tactical handheld and manpack radios, power amplifiers and accessories in a manufacturing environment.

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve highly complex technical issues with radio products experienced by customers. 

  • Develops new design concepts, techniques, and standards.

  • Assists with guiding highly complex and advanced projects to completion.

  • Provides mentoring of lower level engineers

  • Proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.

  • Provides technical presentations on projects (Design Reviews, etc.)

  • Provides estimates on development costs.  

  • Strong working knowledge of Digital, Analog, and Audio circuit design.



Qualifications 




  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior electrical engineering experience, or a Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior electrical engineering experience



Preferred Skills




  • Experience with high speed memory interfaces.

  • Experience with high speed serial protocols (PCI Express, SRIO, Ethernet).

  • Experience with Analog to Digital (AD) and Digital to Analog (DA) interfaces.

  • Experience with control protocols such I2C, SPI, RS-232/422.

  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work and communicate effectively within a development group.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, well organized, detail oriented

  • Adaptable

  • Able to work in cross-functional team environment of varying disciplines.

  • Ability to work in a cross functional team environment and negotiate solutions with Hardware / Software Engineering and Systems Engineering.

  • Knowledge of radios and communication systems.

  • Knowledge of firmware and embedded software.

  • Proficient in the use of test equipment (Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope).

  • Proficient in the use of Design simulation tools

  • Labview programming.
