Sandalphon’s Heart & Home is searching for street team members do either do not want to travel by vehicle in neighborhoods to rescue youth or are not physically able to travel. If you are interested in being a part of this vital movement to rescue youth victims of sex trafficking, prostitution, and homelessness you can apply to be a Neighborhood Locator, Investigator, Point of Contact, or Team Designator.

  • Neighborhood Locators (Internal) – this job requires you to be planted in an office environment. You are not required to travel anywhere and this position works great for those that are confined to a wheel chair, crutches, or any other disability that prevents you from driving or traveling around. Neighborhood Locators will be working along with the Investigators to locate neighborhoods where youth prostitute themselves, neighborhoods where youth are homeless and will determine houses where youth are trafficked into sex slavery. This may or may not include businesses that are engaging in the sex trafficking industry and are disguised as something entirely different.

  • Research neighborhoods in southern California that have a high rate of youth prostitution, homelessness and sex trafficking

  • Create a map guide with located neighborhoods

  • Connect with the Investigator for after the Investigator investigates neighborhoods, businesses, connects with law enforcement to confront pimps and traffickers

  • Connect with Team Designators to determine members for each team and assign them a neighborhood

  • Report information from Investigators to media (including social media) about these neighborhoods to inform the public

  • Investigator (Internal or External) – will travel to neighborhoods and businesses to find and locate traffickers, pimps, shady businesses and youth homeless organizations. Will talk to youth to get information then connect with Neighborhood Locators. Investigators will have inside information about what goes on behind the scenes at shady businesses disguised as regular mom and pop shops. Investigators will also be working with law enforcement to stay safe (police escorts may be needed) and stay informed about current investigations about pimps, traffickers and youth organizations secretly abusing their clients. This can be an internal street team position or an external street team position depending on your preference. Internal is working on the phone and via internet to gain important information. External is working in the streets either on foot or via a designated SHH Street Team vehicle to travel to different neighborhoods. This position is required to create monthly reports of findings and demographics.

  • Point of Contact (Internal) – this person is the contact person that all street team members will be reporting their rescue efforts too. The Point of Contact will be receiving information about each street stop location, the number of youth rescued or picked up (including age, race and gender), a brief summary of the situation at hand and will report any injuries, violence or youth that need immediate medical attention (may be unconscious or incoherent). If there are any altercations between the street member, law enforcement and the youth, this will need to be reported as well. Lastly, the point of contact will need to report what items were handed out to any youth that refused services.

  • Team Designator (Internal) – this person(s) will create teams among all of the street team members. Team Designators will work with the Neighborhood Locators and designate travel points to different neighborhoods according to regions chosen by the CEO.  Teams will consist of usually two male and two female street team members with a medical professional and possibly a spiritual adviser. Typically one street team vehicle will consist of 5-6 members according to available staff.

  • Street Team (External) – this group of members will be assigned by the Team Designator and will consist of 5-6 members. The street team will check out vehicles on designated days and times and travel to different locations based on the map created by the Neighborhood Locators. Street team members will be trained on how to interact with homeless youth, youth prostitutes, foster youth that are in the process of being emancipated or transferred from one facility to our home, youth victims of sex and human trafficking, gang members and other youth that we serve. Street team members will also be trained on how to deal with altercations with emotionally charged youth or youth in bondage or that have their freedom blocked by a pimp or third party. You will also be trained on how to connect with law enforcement and request police escorts for safety. Members will be well equipped with resources to hand out to youth that choose to decline our services in the hopes that they will change their minds later and either call our hotline or walk in on their own. These resources will also be provided to all youth that are rescued from the streets and become residents of Sandalphon’s Heart & Home.

Note: all internal and external street team members will connect once a week on findings, situations, best practices, what needs to be changed or corrected, and safety measures to keep in mind when on the streets and investigating.
