SAP Business Objects Administrator

Location:  Falls Church, VA

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or greater

Position Description: Seeking a skilled SAP Business Objects Administrator that will be responsible for designing, administering implementation, and maintaining an enterprise business intelligence platform. The Business Objects Administrator will provide 3rd tier support for the application while ensuring processes are aligned with tactical and strategic initiatives. The Business Objects Administrator also ensures the platform is positioned for compliance with defined security policies and standards. The ideal candidate should be able to design and create systems and technical guides. The candidate should also be able to suggest and follow technical decisions for complex information systems.

Required Experience/Skills:

• Four or more years of experience performing Business Objects Administration tasks such as installation, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance of the Business Objects software components in an IBM AIX (Unix)


• Four or more years of experience supporting Business Objects in a production environment.


• Thorough understanding and previous working experience performing code promotion activities(link removed)>
  
• Experience supporting applications and reporting solutions that connect to DB2, SQL and Oracle databases(link removed)>
  
• Previous working experience with IBM WebSphere or other mid-tier web server applications such as TOMCAT(link removed)>
  
• Ability to work in large-scale SOA solutions for complex automated information systems projects.


• Ability to write Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), Product Insertion Guide (PIG), and Configuration Recommendation white papers.


• Ability to perform BOXi WAR FILE


• Ability to Diagnose and resolves BOXI and application issues.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot application issues.


• Ability to interact with client and translate business requirements into technical solutions.


• Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.


• Good team player; works well with others.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Ensures the overall health of the Business Objects Application


• Applies service packs, upgrades and hot fixes as required.


• Configures Business Objects application based on customer requirements.


• Assures new users and projects can access software without problems.


• Perform code promotions and test that reports are operating correctly.


• Designs, implements, and maintains Business Objects Application security


• Serves as an escalation point for high priority Business Objects issue.


• Communicate with end users on report or environment issues.


• Perform customization and configuration on Business Objects Universes using IDT Universe Designer, and ODBC connections(link removed)>
  
• Use BOXI reporting tool suite – Dashboards, Design Studio, Lumira, Web-I, Business Intelligence (BI) Launch Pad and Explorer.


• Perform Business Objects software upgrade.


• Perform technical troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis.


• Generate written documentation of all work performed.


• Have a customer-focused demeanor, effective oral and written communication skills.


• Perform production support experience is required; availability for on-call support as needed.
