NexGen Data Systems is seeking an iSupport Sustainment Engineer with experience supporting in-service systems for the world wide Defense Health Agency (DHA) network. Sustainment Engineers ensure continued operation and maintenance of a system with managed risk. Technical surveillance of critical safety items, approved sources for these items, and the oversight of the design configuration baselines are also part of the sustaining engineering effort. The ability to work shifts during a 24/7 operational requirement is a must. This team consists of a combination of System Engineering and management strategies to achieve the desired sustainment metrics. This includes:

 



Root cause analysis of in-service problems (including operational hazards, deficiency reports, parts obsolescence, corrosion effects, and reliability degradation)

 



Other activities necessary to ensure cost-effective support to achieve peacetime and wartime readiness and performance requirements over a system’s life-cycle



 



Roles and Responsibilities:




  • Troubleshoot network security suite solutions.

  • Work in a team setting making recommendations related to troubleshooting, device configuration, and documentation.

  • Resolve issues in a timely manner dealing with a variety of different network devices and protocols following applicable reporting formats

  • Perform detailed technical analyses for a system, subsystem or system elements

  • Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

  • Use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways



Requirements



 



Required/Desired Skills:




  • 5+ years relevant experience in supporting a large network infrastructure.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is preferred but not required.

  • A strong working knowledge with Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and Virtual Private Network devices.

  • A good understanding of TCP/IP in regards to routing and subnetting

  • Must be a team player that can work under pressure with good written and oral communication skills

  • Must have an active DoD SSBI/Top Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain and hold a DoD SSBI/Top Secret Clearance



Experience with the following Network protocols and services:




  • Routing Protocols (OSPF, BGP)

  • Access Control Lists

  • Layer 2 Switching 

  • Spanning Tree

  • Packet Analysis



Experience with the following a plus:




  • Cisco Switch 3560

  • Cisco Switch 3750

  • Cisco Switch 4500X

  • Palo Alto Firewall PA-4050

  • Palo Alto Firewall PA-2050

  • Palo Alto Firewall PA-5050


 

Other requirements:




  • A strong sense of urgency including self-governance on task priority.

  • Must be willing to work shifts to cover a 24x7 operational environment. 

  • Must meet the requirements to obtain and maintain a DoD SSBI/Top Secret clearance, as well as all required security certifications and trainings

  • Travel as required
