Position Summary: The Dock Maintenance Tech is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all facilities' dry docks under the direction of the Dock Master to develop an integral dry dock operations/production team geared towards creating highly efficient dry dock repair periods. Candidate must have a strong work ethic and possess an aptitude for mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists in coordinating and executing the maintenance work done on all dry docks
- Assists in developing an integral dry dock operations/production team geared towards creating highly efficient dry dock repair periods that will maximize the usage of dry dock assets and reducing time on the dock for internal/external customers
- Assists in coordinating and overseeing docking activities, ensuring the safe and efficient docking and undocking of vessels
- Assists in the coordination of vessel movements at the facility.
- Able to assist in creating, reading, and interpreting dry dock plans for internal/external customers
- Assists in determining blocking arrangements and block loading for various types of crafts & vessels
- Assists in developing and executing pumping plans.
- Maintains good housekeeping practices and cleanliness in and around the dock and dockside areas
- Assists in monitoring expenses in relation to dry dock maintenance and report of any and all deficiencies
Other Duties/Functions:
- Conceptual Skills, Process Improvement, Verbal Communication, Functional and Technical Skills, Controls and Instrumentation, Supply Management, Tooling, Coordination, Inventory Control, Attention to Detail, Judgment.
Education/Training:
- A recent graduate of a maritime college or maritime vocational school preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office and the ability to effectively operate office equipment.
- Hands-on approach in maintenance operations, specifically in the areas of mechanical, electrical, structural, and preservation
- Participant of Dry Dock training to include but not limited to the following technical and practical content
- Knowledge of vessel’s characteristics, terminology & handling such as types of configurations of dry dock blocks, and materials used, and stability and effects of vessels
- Ability to develop and evolve long term maintenance and repair plans
- Possess the aptitude for mechanical, electrical, and structural systems
- Ability to understand principles of operation and limitations of dry docks and dry-dock operations
- Hands-on approach in maintenance operations, specifically in the areas of mechanical, electrical, structural, and preservation
Qualification/Requirements:
- Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States
- This position requires US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access
- Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites
- All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and a background check before employment begins. Failure to complete any of these steps will result in disqualification
- Valid State of Hawaii drivers’ license in good standing, class 3 or higher
- Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work and other job sites on time for the start of shift
- Must be flexible in work hours, on call as needed
