Purpose/Summary:

Responsible for processing worker orders and data entry.  In addition to processing orders according to customer specifications, a traffic clerk is also responsible for the proper set-up and communication with proceeding shifts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Process work orders promptly and accurately.


• Pick up orders from shop floor.


• Able to successfully use the AS400 and accurately complete paperwork as assigned.


• Completes assigned duties in accordance with safety policies and practices.  This regards to individual safety, the safety of other employees, and the safe use of equipment in the workplace.


• Wears approved personal protective equipment such as safety glasses when needed.


• Performs other duties as assigned by a supervisor, lead person or management.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions may consist of loud noise, vibratory tools, repetitive motions, airborne particles such as metal dust and chips and exposure to chemicals, fumes and bright light.  Physical requirements may include continual sitting, standing, walking, lifting, twisting with periodic bending, climbing, stooping, crawling and crouching.  Also including the ability to talk, listen, and the use of hands is required of the employee on a daily basis.

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills:

• Previous data entry is preferred but not required.


• Ability to work under pressure and complete assignments on time.


• Ability to perform math including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.


• Has good verbal and written communication skills.


• Has good keyboarding and numerical pad skills.


• Knowledge of general shop procedures and rules including safety precautions.


• Ability and willingness to cooperate with co-workers and work as part of a production team.
