SUMMARY: The Special Projects Director will coordinate and oversee special projects under the direction of the CEO. The individual will be the lead staff in developing new resources and expands Arkay’s public relations through networking, grants, and donor relationships with foundations and businesses. The individual in this position will be responsible for: Identification of potential new funding sources, development of funding resources for existing and proposed programs and/or services, writing grants and assisting others writing grants, collaborating on grant applications with various and community organizations, and processing, monitoring and coordinating required report evaluations on existing grants.

Reports to: CEO



Status: 1 FTE



 



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:



 




  • Assists in overall Strategic Planning to accomplish agency’s goals & objectives in the area of program development & resource development.

  • Provides a high-level professional, administrative and consultative work regarding resource development, philanthropy, & donor base.

  • Coordinates all grant processes for the purpose of ensuring compliance with funding guidelines.

  • Develops grant applications and related documents for the purpose of submitting highly effective grant applications to the appropriate funding agency.

  • Develops and updates the strategy and implementation plan for agency-wide projects.

  • Analyze proposed projects, quantify impact as projected on business and prepare business case.

  • Manages and directs the design of new initiatives.

  • Establishes short-range and long range resource development goals and plans. May collaborate with management and provide information needed to establish long-range project goals.

  • Coordinates projects or assignments either within a single functional area or across multiple organizational areas, working with both internal and external clients.

  • Provides leadership and guidance to projects to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed timeframe and budget. Monitors the use of project resources.

  • Maintains on-going relationships with outside agencies, businesses and other strategic partners as needed.

  • Recommends work plan for each phase of project and assists in the assignment of personnel as needed.

  • Works to implement resource development events for the entire agency which includes fund raising & grant writing to expand agency resources.

  • Works with the CEO on agency leases, contracts, & event planning.

  • Assist with ongoing compliance with all regulations that affect Arkay.

  • Provides high-level project management expertise, consultation and support for initiatives that support operational or administrative goals.

  • Any other duties as assigned by the CEO.



 



EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & KEY COMPETENCIES:




  • Graduate of an accredited school with a minimum of a Master’s Degree.

  • Creative & entrepreneurial skills required.

  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks, and work independently;

  • Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in the face of competing demands.

  • High level of process orientation and an attitude oriented towards people & processes.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills; demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with businesses & prospective donor organizations.

  • Relentless commitment to mission.

  • Medium proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, and Internet Explorer. Generally, requires 2-5 years related experience.

  • Must be self-motivated, flexible and a team player with the ability to work independently as well as with others.
