Work Location: 28525 Beck Rd., Suite 114, Wixom, MI 48393.

Job Duties: Assist senior engineers to design sanitary, storm, water (utilities), soil erosion, and sedimentation control plans based on the existing topographic survey according to city/county standards. Design site/plot plans for new developments according to standards and regulations for private single family home development projects. Prepare construction plans including grading plans, profiles for utilities and roads, drainage areas and exhibits for site plans and construction plans under the supervision of a professional engineer. Design deep foundation and underpinning foundation repair plans for residential and commercial sites. Prepare aerial maps/photos of different phases of construction and create topographic survey for sites. Assist professional engineers in performing structural investigations of houses/buildings. Prepare project proposal, including cost estimates, schedules, and project specifications. Conduct subsurface investigations of the soils in the fields during the borings, test pits and laboratory classifications of the soils, recommendations for the foundation of the proposed structures. Collaborate with contractors to ensure safe, cost-effective, and timely completion of the projects. Provide construction management services for renovations. Assist the project manager with design of retaining walls. Manage routine projects, characterized by changing conditions and requirements, challenging client/agency demands, or difficult project coordination. Monitor reports and schedules to ensure appropriate charging of manhours, costs and expenses, and communicate project progress/status to senior management. Monitor client billings, resolve client disputes, adjusting project billing records as required. Understand the scope of work defined by the contract and monitor the budget. Monitor task budgets so adjustments can be made appropriately. Recognize out-of-scope work and react in a timely manner so extra work isn’t performed without authorization from the client. Define scope of work for each project and interpret and organize project tasks.

Requirements: This position requires a Master’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field. Position requires completion of Master’s-level academic coursework in Construction Law and Construction Safety Management. 40hrs/week.

Job Duties: Design site/plot plans for new developments according to standards and regulations for private single family home development projects. Design detention ponds for land development projects. Responsible for the production of site civil plans, grading plans, SESC plans, standard details, and as- built plans. Design calculations of shallow and deep foundation for the new construction of single-family homes. Design parking lots and driveways rough grading and maintaining minimum drainage slope. Assist the Project Manager with the design of retaining walls for high slope areas. Develop design and specifications based on building codes and permits. Design storm water management calculations of catchment area for predevelopment projects. Prepare plans and specifications, analyzing alternatives and developing quantity takeoffs and cost estimates. Provide construction administration such as review and response to applications, submittals, claims and interpreting plans, specifications, and bid documents. Use of Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Pix4D, and MS Office.

Requirements: This position requires a Master’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field. Plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or 2 years in a related occupation including Project Engineer or related experience. Position requires 2 years of experience with Civil 3D. 40hrs/week.
