This is a seasonal position that runs from May 29th through July 6th. This position comes with training, room, board, and pay.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To work directly with campers in the unit, helping them to achieve a positive camp experience.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Camp Director

MANDATORY Qualifications: Must be 18 or older.

General Qualifications

Fun loving, enjoys being around kids ages 5-17.
Innovative with new ideas and ways to have a good summer.
Positive relationship with parents, kids, and staff throughout the summer.
Completion of High School or the equivalent.
Ability to be supervised by your peers.
Willingness and ability to live near or with campers.
Ability to guide campers and help them learn.
Willingness to develop skills in a variety of program areas.
Ability to work well with other counselors.
Willing to work long hours.
Specific Responsibilities:

Know each girl in the unit and help her get the most out of her stay at camp.
Planning and carrying out programs to meet unit descriptions and camper needs that will help build self-esteem.
Create and maintain a friendly atmosphere and wholesome relationships among the campers and staff.
Lead campers in specific activities as designated by the Program Director.
Assist in the management of camper behavior.
Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the unit.
Assist in the supervision of the daily lives of the campers: bedtime, showers, wake-up, mealtimes, etc.
Assist and participate in the All Camp programs, waterfront, horseback and craft activities, kapers for each day, and dining hall preparation and clean-up.
Assist in the opening and closing of camp cleanup, inventory, and care of all equipment used in the unit.
Attend and participate in staff meetings.
Set a good example for campers and others including cleanliness, punctuality, sharing clean up and chores, sportsmanship, and table manners.
Uphold all standards and policies as set forth by GSUSA, GSHS, ACA. (i.e. camper/counselor ratios, camper/counselor relationships, confidentiality of campers and staff rules, rules at program elements, and rules laid out in staff training).
Other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.
Essential Functions:

Be able to lift 20 pounds.
Be able to carry 20pounds through varying elevations.
Walk, hike, and run in varying terrain and elevatitions.
