Associate Economic Analyst
Job location: Salem, MA
Description:
· Critically evaluate the economic thought content of expert report drafts and provide feedback to the project manager;
· Perform research, data analysis and exhibit creation using Microsoft Excel and statistical programs such as SAS and Stata;
· Create economic models and formulate damage theories in collaboration with the expert and project manager;
· Read and summarize depositions undertaken as part of the legal proceedings in litigation for which the firm has been requested to provide damage assessments;
· Research company, industry, and technology background and compose concise summaries of such background information to be included in expert reports;
· Perform all aspects of expert report creation, including drafting the outline, identifying relevant exhibits, setting milestones and deadlines, allocating, delegating and managing the input of analysts and experts, and managing client expectations;
· Learn the role of project manager and subsequently assume responsibility for managing projects on an unsupervised basis;
· Undertake additional economic research on topics related to our company’s interest;
· Develop- own research agenda in order to be involved as a thought leader in economic theories accepted among the peer group.
Occasional travel within the U.S. 5% of the time to accompany expert witnesses to trials and depositions.
Minimum requirements:
U.S. PhD degree or foreign equivalent in Economics, or a related field plus knowledge of conducting and evaluating complex economic research.
Knowledge must include:
· Knowledge in conducting micro economic research in the fields of Industrial Organization and Applied Microeconomics.
· Knowledge in evaluating economic models and theories including monopoly power and monopoly pricing behavior; first, second, and third-degree of price discrimination; short-run price competition, dynamic price competition; the economics of research and development; game theory and strategic behavior.
· Knowledge in any statistical programming software to identify and evaluate data sets for analysis of economic value.
· Knowledge of how to structure an economic research paper in areas of Industrial Organization and Applied Microeconomics.
