Principal IT Architect (The Boston Consulting Group, Inc. - New York, NY) - Collaborate on interdisciplinary teams of designers, engineers, researchers, technical experts, and consultants to develop leading IT concepts and architectural solutions. Apply sound technical know-how, understanding of business contexts, and analytical skills to enable organizations to technically transform. Specific duties include: solution, application, enterprise architecture and business capability mapping; restructuring IT processes and organization; supporting IT functions during mergers and acquisitions, including the functional and technical transformation of organizations' IT departments; assessing quality assurance for IT implementation; analyzing complex IT application landscapes and status quo for IT architecture optimization; developing functional and technical online and Internet strategies; optimizing the application development processes; developing team talent by providing direction and facilitating technical architectural discussions; contribute to BCG Platinion’s consulting business by assisting with business development through writing proposals, scoping projects and contributing to our thought leadership through written publications and speaking at events and conferences. Requires a Master’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Computer Science, Business Management, System Controls and Engineering, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus ten (10) years of experience as a Software Engineer, or related occupation, including at least four (4) years of experience in an architecture discipline. Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirement is not applicable to section) – must possess the following: performing solution, application, enterprise architecture and business capability mapping, which prioritize technology roadmaps considering dependencies and risk factors; evaluating organizations’ IT architectures and IT products, including core systems and finding technical capability gaps, creating heat maps, and providing recommendations; supporting technical analysis, design, development, and execution of use cases and reviewing technical architecture and code; developing technical concepts and designing software solutions and designing API and microservices for software applications; utilizing Next gen capabilities including DevOps, Cloud, Data platform and component technologies and designing data analytics architecture using Data Lake; designing cloud native applications on public cloud providers including Amazon Web Services (“AWS”) and Azure; and evaluating integration methodologies and tools, optimizing application development processes, assessing quality assurance for IT implementations, and designing work packages and modules in IT implementation projects.
