Senior Data Engineer for Cepheid in Sunnyvale, CA to design and deploy enterprise-wide cloud-based data processing application development. Provide subject matter expertise to internal technology teams and the InfoSec organization. Support a research and development function within team to explore new and innovative technology solutions, provide engineering studies and make recommendation to enhance Cloud platform. Collaborate with business and technical team members to build data pipelines and stage high quality data for consumption by business analysts, data scientists and visualization developers. Work with product owners, architects and developers to build real time/near real time scalable data integration solutions to enable Data & Analytics platform in providing relevant, timely and accurate data to self-service BI tools, web platforms via APIs and Data science tools. Responsible for the building, deployment, and maintenance of critical scalable Data Pipelines to assemble large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements. Work closely with SMEs, Data Modeler, Architects, Analysts and other team members on requirements to build scalable real time/near real time/batch data solutions. Contribute to design, code, configurations, and documentation for components that manage data ingestion, real time streaming, batch processing, data extraction, transformation, and loading into Data Lake/Cloud Data Warehouse/MPP (Snowflake/Redshift/similar Technologies). Own one or more key components of the infrastructure and works to continually improve it, identify gaps and improve the platform’s quality, robustness, maintainability, and speed. Cross-train other team members on technologies being developed, while also continuously learning new technologies from other team members. Interact with technical teams across Cepheid and ensure that solutions meet customer requirements in terms of functionality, performance, availability, scalability, and reliability. Perform development, QA, and dev-ops role as needed to ensure total end to end responsibility of solutions.

Education Required:

Bachelor's degree in Technology, Computer Application, Computer Science, Engineering or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus ten (10) years of data engineering experience working in a public cloud environment.

OR

Master's degree in Technology, Computer Application, Computer Science, Engineering or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and eight (8) years of data engineering experience working in a public cloud environment.

Up to 5% international and domestic travel required.

Telecommuting position - can be performed anywhere in the U.S.

Skills Required:

Experience must include: 5+ years working with data solutions; 3+ years coding in Python, or Scala or similar scripting language; 3+ years developing data pipelines in AWS close platform, Azure, or Snowflake at large; 2+ years designing and implementing data ingestion with real-time data streaming tools like Kafka, Kinesis or any similar tools; SAP/Salesforce or other cloud integrations; 2+ years working with MPP databases such as Snowflake (Preferred), Redshift or similar MPP databases; 1+ years working with Serverless ETL processes (Lambda, AWS Glue, Matillion or similar); 1+ years with big data technologies like EMR, Hadoop, Spark, Cassandra, MongoDB or other open source big data tools; Applying professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations; and Designing, documenting, and defending designs for key components in large, distributed computing systems. Salary Range: $96,700 – 174,518/year. Salary Offered: $174,518/year.
