Job Title: Manager Engineering

Job Duties: Conduct information management, data quality, data analytics, & architecture skills utilizing a strong working knowledge of data infrastructure & various technology reporting platforms. Provide leadership, motivation, & establish a teamwork environment for the cross functional data operations team & processes. Advise, influence, & coach team members in the development & achievement of data operations program goals. Lead the development, documentation, & implementation of data operations procedures & standards to support data governance office. Work with business partners, data management stakeholders, & the IT engineering & data science departments to define & document data quality rules, targets, & standards. Establish change controls over quality standards & work with functional & IT partners to enforce within the organization. Work with IT resources to turn business quality rules into technical requirements & manage/coordinate business testing & certification activities with data stewards & owners. Partner with data stewards & owners to implement, enhance, & manage governance dashboarding capability on quality metrics. Define user experience standards & exception reporting capability & partner with IT to implement data mart & data quality trend reporting. Implement & manage training & education in the data quality space with users to ensure use & adoption of data quality tools & processes to improve quality of data. Responsible for facilitating & providing data quality subject matter expertise within data governance working groups focused on data quality improvement efforts. Oversee the development & implementation of detailed project & work plans for data quality monitoring & reporting efforts within the data governance organization. Coordinate the planning, documenting & execution activities for the projects, tasks, budgets, timelines, & project staffing to successfully complete projects on a timely basis & within budget. Develop documentation to support the project planning & implementation process. Lead & provide support to project teams by facilitating/attending project meetings, documenting minutes & action items, responding to assigned tasks when due.



· Provide leadership, development, & succession planning for the dataops team.

· Determine short- & long-term personnel needs for their department.

· Responsible for the recruitment, training, performance evaluation & feedback, & career development for all levels of the team.

· Set priorities for the team & clearly communicate objectives so senior management initiatives are met.

· Partner with business to understand the business pain points & translate them to drive data quality solutions.

· Provide technical leadership in design, development, & testing of data quality rules, root cause analysis, & remediation plans.

· Prepare & present potential technical solutions & advise the business on approach & tradeoffs.

· Communicate & present solution approaches to enterprise architects, project teams, leadership, & other stakeholders.

· Work with Solution Architects & Engineers to identify & mitigate architectural risks & issues across programs & projects.

· Leverage existing & participate in the creation & augmentation of new & existing reusable service components & patterns.

· Lead projects, provide technical leadership, coach, & mentor team members.

· Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, & others, to solicit cooperation & resolve problems.

· Review project plans to plan & coordinate project activity.

· Recruit, hire, train & supervise staff, or participate in staffing decisions.

· Prepare & review operational reports or project progress reports.

· Assign & review the work of dataops engineers, & other computer-related workers.

· Develop & interpret organizational goals, policies, & procedures.

· Control operational budget & expenditures.

Requirements/Special Skills: Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and seven (7) years of experience with any combination of the following: data engineering, BI development and engineering, or data architecture.



Experience must include:



1. Seven (7) years of experience in the execution of data initiatives, leading to the development of useful insights and the improvement of a business’s performance and growth.

2. Seven (7) years of experience with technical knowledge paired with business acumen including finding ways to leverage the data the company has available to solve business problems.

3. Seven (7) years of experience leading a team of data and BI engineers to help design and implement an efficient and credible flow of data across the organization utilizing industry best practices.

4. Seven (7) years of experience with data architecture and how it can be leveraged.

5. Seven (7) years of experience creating business value from data analysis.

6. Three (3) years of experience within a large scale retail organization, such as a Fortune 500 organization.

7. Two (2) years of experience creating effective KPIs and metrics to measure operational performance.

8. Two (2) years of experience with data mesh architecture, design patterns, and standard methodologies with an eye towards scale, automation, resiliency, high availability and user experience.

9. Two (2) years of experience with building and leading data operations teams.

10. Three (3) years of experience in supporting cloud computing application implementations on Azure or Google Cloud.
