Fall semester, August 2024

Responsibilities
• This is a nine-month, renewable term appointment.
• This appointment will include a 15-credit hour teaching load per semester in Physical Science.
• Other college level courses may also be assigned depending on the selected candidate’s credentials.
• Duties will include developing an engaging curriculum, delivering lectures and labs, mentoring students and contributing to departmental initiatives.
• Instructional duties will be on the main campus in Parkersburg.
• Teaching assignments may include evening, weekend, hybrid and/or totally on-line instruction.
• In addition, duties will include academic advising, committee service, program and course-level assessment, program support, effective use of learning management systems, student recruitment/retention and professional development.
• Use of learning management systems and demonstrated effective use of technology is a condition of continued employment beyond the first year.
• WVUP values creativity, individuality, and innovation, and expects the selected candidate to actively participate in the college community.

Requirements
• A Master’s degree from a recognized, regionally accredited institution with a minimum of 18 semester hours of graduate credit in Physical Science or a related discipline.
• Strong foundation in physical science disciplines such as chemistry, physical, and earth science.
• Strong commitment to student success, innovative teaching methods, collaboration within a diverse academic community and experience working with students who may benefit from additional support is essential.
• Experience in creating courses, course materials, and content for both lecture and lab settings preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in supporting students with varying academic backgrounds and a commitment to employing innovative teaching methods, collaborating effectively as part of a team, and fostering a positive learning environment.
• Demonstrated use of advanced technology systems such as learning management systems or similar technologies.
• Understanding and application of assessment practices is strongly preferred.
• Prior effective use of technology in instructional delivery, and a willingness to deliver courses in all instructional modalities.
• Demonstration of teaching effectiveness is part of the on-campus interview.
