What is a Benefits Manager?
The Benefits Manager plays a crucial role in the organization's human resource services. The Benefits Manager will focus specifically on benefits plan development and administration for the entire organization. This role will report directly to the Vice President of Human Resources and assist in aligning the benefits programs with company strategic goals and objections.

What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in human resources, organizational psychology, finance or related field. Three years human resources and benefits administration experience at a senior level. Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, SECTION 125, etc. Working knowledge of Human Resources principles and procedures for benefits administration , 401(k) and personnel information systems.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Manage and direct all aspects related to group health and welfare programs, retirement plan, and wellness programs.
a. Manage daily activities of all programs: new hire orientations, enrollments, terminations, and changes.
b. Document and maintain administrative procedures for all processes.
c. Analyze plan design; research trends, utilization and costs; recommend and implement changes; develop long-range objectives.
d. Manage annual renewal processes including cost evaluation, vendor selection, employee communications and training, and open enrollment processes.
e. Oversee maintenance of HRIS system regarding employee benefits elections, beneficiaries, dependents, employee medical file and updating of carrier records; provide technical support for employees; and troubleshoot system problems.
f. Provide customer service (information, investigation, issue resolution, counseling and training) to employees as needed.
g. Employee communications: design, update and distribute materials to enhance understanding of the company's benefit package, create and conduct presentations using audiovisual tools including power point and videos.
h. Reconcile vendor invoices to payroll deductions, research and correct errors, and submit to Accounts Payable for payment.
i. Oversee Wellness Committee.
j. Member of the Retirement Investment Committee.
2. Serve as primary contact for insurance broker, plan vendors, and third party administrators. a. Negotiate with vendors/administrators for services and renewals. b. Oversee and confirm transfer of data for services, premiums, plan administration.
3. Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations including ERISA, DOL, HIPPA, W&H, ACA, Medicare (CMS), COBRA, QMSCOs, FMLA, QDROs.
a. Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources and benefits functions.
b. Ensure accurate and timely compliance filing requirements of all benefits and wellness programs.
c. Annually review Plan Documents, Summary Plan Descriptions, Summary of Material Modifications, Summary of Benefits and Coverages; complete edits; and distribute as required per ERISA guidelines.
d. Gather census data for Non-Discrimination Testing for 401(k) Plan, Flexible Spending Accounts, Voluntary Benefits, and Cafeteria Plan.
e. Oversee annual 401(k) Plan audit.
f. Provide Form 5500 information and data for 401(k) and health plans.
4. Train and instruct work items to members of HR Team when appropriate.
5. Interface with legal counsel and HR consultants as needed.
6. Use appropriate computer programs to create and maintain business forms, reports, spreadsheets and databases.
7. Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company, as well as suppliers, customers and peers effectively.
8. Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.
9. Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
10. Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
11. Punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
12. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.


Required Experience and Education
• Bachelor's degree in human resources, organizational psychology, finance or related field. • Three years human resources and benefits administration experience at a senior level. • Knowledge of benefit contract language. • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, SECTION 125, etc. • Working knowledge of Human Resources principles and procedures for benefits administration , 401(k) and personnel information systems. • Proficiency in MS Office products. • Ability to handle complex projects and responsibilities independently and with a high level of confidentiality. • Ability to interact with all levels of employees. • Successful passing of a credit report. • Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English.


Physical and Technical Environment
• Minimal lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally. • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop in a normal office environment. • Ability to routinely travel throughout multi-floor office and shop area, walking, climbing stairs, utilizing elevator. • Some travel required, exposure to varying environments and cultures at the job site, changing deadlines, strict time constraints. • Clean and orderly manufacturing environment and/or normal office conditions, changing deadlines and project requirements, strict time constraints. • Travel as needed.
