Flexographic Press Mounter 1st Shift Location: Chino, CA Position: Flexographic Press Mounter Industry: Flexible Packaging / Flexographic Printing Shift: 1st Shift Schedule: Monday Thursday | 4/10 Schedule Position Type: Full-Time Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Flexographic Press Mounter to join a high-volume flexible packaging and printing operation in Chino, CA. This position is responsible for accurately preparing printing sleeves and mounting photopolymer printing plates according to job specifications. The Press Mounter plays a critical role in ensuring proper registration, print quality, efficient press setups, and successful production runs. We are specifically looking for someone with hands-on flexographic plate-mounting experience who understands that accuracy during the mounting process directly impacts what happens once the job reaches the press. Key Responsibilities -
Prepare printing sleeves and cylinders for upcoming flexographic press jobs. -
Accurately mount photopolymer printing plates onto sleeves according to job specifications. -
Operate camera-assisted plate-mounting equipment to achieve proper alignment and registration. -
Measure and position cameras used as alignment guides during the mounting process. -
Apply appropriate cushion backing or mounting material to sleeves before installing plates. -
Position and secure printing plates according to registration and job requirements. -
Perform and verify print-repeat calculations and measurements(link removed)> -
Review job tickets before beginning each mounting assignment. -
Verify plate identification, orientation, repeat, and job specifications. -
Compare completed plate setups against artwork, proofs, and production requirements. -
Inspect printing plates for damage, wear, defects, or other conditions that could affect print quality. -
Prepare completed sleeves for installation onto CI flexographic printing presses. -
Inspect plates after production and properly return reusable plates to designated storage locations. -
Maintain accurate plate inventory and production documentation. -
Organize mounting priorities according to the press production schedule. -
Help ensure mounted sleeves are ready ahead of scheduled press changeovers. -
Identify and report mounting equipment or mechanical issues. -
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe plate-mounting area. -
Follow established quality, production, and safety procedures. Required Qualifications -
Minimum 2 years of flexographic plate-mounting experience preferred. -
Previous experience in a flexible packaging or flexographic printing environment(link removed)> -
CI flexographic printing experience strongly preferred. -
Experience mounting photopolymer printing plates onto sleeves and/or cylinders. -
Experience operating camera-assisted plate-mounting equipment. -
Strong understanding of plate registration and alignment(link removed)> -
Ability to perform print-repeat calculations and measurements. -
Ability to accurately use a tape measure and other measuring tools. -
Ability to read and understand job tickets, production specifications, artwork, and proofs. -
Basic math skills. -
Strong attention to detail and quality. -

Print-quality requirements Why the Press Mounter Matters Good flexographic printing begins before the press starts running. An incorrectly mounted plate can lead to registration problems, excessive press adjustments, wasted material, longer changeovers, poor print quality, and production downtime(link removed)> The Press Mounter must be able to independently verify that each plate is positioned correctly and that the completed sleeve matches the job specifications before releasing it to the press department. Schedule 1st Shift Monday Thursday 4-Day / 10-Hour Schedule Candidates must be available to work the full 1st-shift schedule and overtime when required based on production demands. Physical Requirements Candidates should be comfortable: -
Standing and walking for extended periods. -
Bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and working around production equipment. -
Handling and positioning printing sleeves. -
Lifting up to approximately 50 pounds when required. -
Working in an active printing and manufacturing environment. -
Following required PPE and established safety procedures. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate understands that plate mounting is a precision position, not simply a production task(link removed)> We're looking for someone who can review a job ticket, identify the correct plates and sleeves, verify the required repeat, prepare the sleeve, accurately mount and align the plates using camera-assisted equipment, compare the completed setup against the proof, and confidently release it to production. Accuracy, registration, organization, and attention to detail are essential for success in this position.
