Gersh Autism is a leading organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. With over 28 years of experience, we offer a comprehensive range of services, including education, therapy, independent living skills, life plan management, residential services, vocational training, events, and recreation. Academy for Young Minds (AYM) is seeking an experienced ABA Head Teacher to join our team in one of our state-of-the-art classrooms in Long Island City, Queens. AYM is a private school for learners on the Autism Spectrum, ages 5-15 in classroom settings of 6-10 students. This is a full-time, 12-month school calendar position. Under the supervision of aBCBA-D, the ABA Head Teacher will provide instruction to students, implement individualized curricular activities for each student, and supervise two classroom Assistant Teachers. This individual will also support student learning through data collection on programs and progress toward goals. Requirements - Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and/or New York State Licensed Behavior Analyst (NYS LBA)
- Experience in teaching special education students (preferably using ABA methodology)
- Understanding of the needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and/or other developmental disabilities
- Knowledge of NYS Common Core Standards
- Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Computer proficiency (e.g., database, word processing, etc.)
