The Finance & Administration Division of the Agency of Transportation (AOT) is seeking a well-rounded and enthusiastic candidate to join the Internal Audit Team. This position is based out of the Barre City Place office and may be eligible for telework or a flexible work schedule. The Audit Specialist supports the AOT Audit Bureau with a variety tasks, which include, but are not limited to: financial reviews of indirect cost rates, invoice reviews, and perform rate schedule reviews for pending contracts. This position will evaluate internal controls, identify gaps, and develop corrective action plans, and assist with coordinating various sections of the agency to collect, review, and prepare department records to support the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), the Annual Single Audit, as well as improper payment reviews conducted by Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Successful candidates will have strong communication skills, have attention for detail, and recognize the importance providing consistent and complete documents to internal and external stakeholders. This position, AOT Audit Specialist II (Job Requisition #48879), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized through 09/30/2026. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs. Associates degree or higher in accounting, public or business administration, or a related field AND two (2) or more years of experience in financial operations, which includes auditing experience. OR Four (4) or more years of experience in financial operations, which includes auditing experience. OR Certification as a CPA. Experience in a government audit role.
