Rea & Associates is looking for an experienced, ambitious, and enthusiastic Accounting Specialist to join our Marietta, Ohio public accounting team. This position is responsible for full-charge bookkeeping, payroll processing, accounting and audit support, and administrative tasks.

This position is on-site working in our Marietta, OH office location.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including cash flows for multiple clients and industries
  • Preparing bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations
  • Understanding how payroll preparation and monthly transaction entry relates to year-end information
  • Reviewing accounts for appropriate postings and calculate retained earnings
  • Assisting clients with accounting, payroll and basic software issues
  • Preparing quarterly and year-end payroll tax returns
  • Assisting tax/accounting and audit departments with reports from client information
  • Preparing annual information returns (1099 & 1096)
  • Preparing monthly/quarterly sales and use and CAT tax returns, when applicable
  • Preparing accrual to cash conversions, when applicable
  • Identifying potential additional services to benefit current clients
  • Adding and disposing of fixed assets, updating depreciation schedules
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts to supporting data
  • Creating loan amortization schedules

Requirements

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic accounting practices within a business environment preferred
  • Knowledge of general accounting concepts including accrual accounting
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with advanced skills in Word and Excel

Software:

  • Technology skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook) - required
  • QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online and/or Quickbooks Certified ProAdvisor - preferred
  • Internal software abilities - Fixed Asset Solutions, Accounting CS, Caseware Working Papers and GoFileRoom

  • Data entry skills and high attention to detail
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Client service oriented
  • Able to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work well and learn from others
  • Maintains cheerful attitude
  • Willing to adapt to continuous process improvement and changes in technology

Preferred:

  • Associate's degree in accounting or comparable accounting and bookkeeping experience
