Were currently seeking an Accounting Specialist who will work 40 hours per week Monday through Friday (8:30 am to 5pm).

This is a great job for you if you like a fun and casual atmosphere. Youll perform accounting-related duties including preparing spreadsheets, reconciling accounts, bookkeeping, processing accounts payable, cash deposits and payroll. Our office is located in NE Portland, near NE 102nd and Burnside.

Duties:

  • Perform bank reconciliations and balancing with bank statements.
  • Handle accounts payable including reconciling vendor statements, accurately coding and entering invoices into our accounting system (Abila) and processing invoices and payments.
  • Handle cash deposits including processing checks, credit cards and cash payments and prepare daily deposits.
  • Maintain accounting and replenishment for petty cash.
  • Prepare, calculate, record and process payroll payments including auditing and computing timecard records, subtracting deductions such as federal and state tax withholdings, insurance deductions and garnishments.
  • Co-administer the benefit plan by ensuring proper deduction from payroll, enrolling in benefit plans, and assisting employees with questions.
  • Perform reconciliations and schedules for journal entries, financial statements and other needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date financial and employee payroll records in an accurate, organized, timely and confidential manner.
  • Assist with external reviews, audits, and documentation as needed.
  • Track quarterly taxes, year-end taxes, and W-2s through ADP.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED. Two-year accounting degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years required and five years experience preferred in accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll, preferably in a non-profit.
  • Requires advanced computer proficiency including experience using Microsoft Office and a working knowledge of accounting and payroll software, internet, and web-based applications. Experience with ADP and Abila a plus.
  • Be able to pass a reference check and a criminal history background check.

  • $25 to $28 per hour DOE. Annual wage increase based on satisfactory performance.
