This position is responsible for efficiently and accurately maintaining accounts payable records, and processing accounts payable by examining, coding, verifying, balancing and reconciling a variety of transactions related to these functions. Performing account reconciliations for suppliers against their statements and for general ledger accounts payable accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews the aging report and provides recommendations to supervisor for payments, refund requests, or other necessary actions
  • Assists with preparation of account reconciliations
  • Reviews purchase orders and receipts to facilitate matching to voucher.
  • Trouble shooting of mismatches from purchase orders to invoice.
  • Reviews invoices and invoice coding for accuracy.
  • Matches invoices to the purchase order system for authorization of payment.
  • Communicates with suppliers when necessary to ensure all invoices are correct and accurate.
  • Reconciliations of supplier statements to AP database.
  • Communicates with Supply Chain, Receivers and authorized GL Coders for approval of invoices.
  • Maintains queue of invoices and monitors for receipt of goods for open items.
  • Data entry.
  • Responsible for sorting, stuffing and mailing checks for suppliers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Financial/Accounting processes and procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Understanding of the internal control environment for Accounts Payable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Customer service orientation with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent mathematical skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Organized and dependable; action oriented


Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Some college preferred
  • 3-5 years of accounts payable experience
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience
