Assembly Technician

Description:

It is the responsibility of this position to perform all pipe, vessel, and structural assembly tasks required to complete a process equipment unit for client delivery. The purpose of the position is to mechanically assemble, pressure test, and ensure the final assembled equipment is in accordance with the engineering documentation and within the time allocated in the production schedule, and according to Quality Requirements.

It is the goal of the position to contribute to the establishment of the Manufacturing Department as a highly respected process equipment group in the industries and for the clients we serve.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Fit-up/assemble all piping spools
  2. Perform hydro testing
  3. Perform pneumatic testing
  4. Assemble vessel internals
  5. Install/trial-fit external accessories
  6. Prepare equipment for shipping
  7. Cut and prep pipe/structural components
  8. Load/unload equipment for transport
  9. Ability to read drawings & P&IDs
  10. Knowledgeable about valves, instruments, fittings
  11. Ability to lead others and plan ahead
  12. Knowledgeable about quality requirements
  13. Ability to make correct decisions
  14. Speed of accomplishing tasks
  15. Proper and professional housecleaning
  16. Ability to work safely
  17. Reliable and punctual attendance
  18. Positive and cooperative attitude


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

This position demands excellent pipe and structural assembly proficiency in pressure piping and process vessel manufacturing. The position requires good mechanical and piping aptitude, and a class-appropriate level of experience. A high school or vocational school diploma or equivalent is necessary. Higher vocational welding background is preferable. Experience with ASME/ANSI Piping Codes is helpful. Experience in an ISO 9000 environment is suggested. A working knowledge of shop processes, materials, shop equipment, and assembly tools is highly encouraged.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Heavy construction and fabrication environment: constantly.
  • Office environment: rarely.
