Job Description

Assistant Manager EHS

Reviews Frequent and regular interactions with Corp-EHS,Branch Manager and all other HODs in the unit forplanning reviews
Employees /Contractors Planning and execution of training / retraining of all employees and contractors workmen. Frequent interactions with all for adherence to work permit
system and use of PPE.
Must keep abreast of all statutes; follow up on new gazette notifications.

Audits Audit the EHS compliance of the factory at regular intervals and liaise with Corp-EHS as well as coordinate with the Branch team for Corporate / other EHS audits.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
Recommend and advise the Management through his sound knowledge the impacts of various environment pollution parameters and suggest ways of controlling the same as per laid down regulations.
Ensure through regular rounds/ proper liaisoning with workmen staff that safe work practices are followed.
Ensure that proper records as per the guidelines of Corporate Safety are maintained. To liaise with various departments and ensure this is strictly followed.
To keep regular contact with Corporate Safety regarding training needs of the unit ; required emphasis to be given to this area.
Ensure formal reports/reviews of action plans of EHS audit and regular follow up also on Internal audits.
Plan and ensure that EHS Committee Meetings (Central as well as Departmental) are held regularly.
Ensure risk assessment / hazard spotting exercises are carried out on regular basis.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS EXPERIENCE :
Must have Diploma by RLIS in the field of Industrial Safety Management being a statutory requirement
Should have thorough knowledge of various production machines on the floor, materials used including hazardous ones && their MSDS etc. He should know complete details of various machine guarding and the importance of electrical interlocking whenever necessary
Should have approx. 10 years shopfloor experience ; be conversant with work habits so as to educate the workmen on safe work practices
Competency in People management so as to skillfully manage the enforcement of various safety guidelines such that no untoward incidents take place
Competency in communications skills to impart effective training on safety so that the subject gets due importance it deserves
Thorough in-depth knowledge of EHS so that all the team members of the unit look towards him as a source of help whenever needed.
