Position Overview: As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Safety Director to lead our safety program, ensuring the well-being of our employees, subcontractors, and the communities in which we work. The Safety Director will play a pivotal role in maintaining a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement. This position reports directly to the Executive Leadership Team. Requirements As a Safety Director at Gulf Coast Utility Contractors, you will play a critical role in establishing and maintaining a strong safety culture. Your responsibilities will include: - Develop and implement a comprehensive safety program in alignment with industry best practices, regulations, and company policies.
- Oversee safety training, including orientation for new employees and ongoing training for existing staff.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with project managers and superintendents to integrate safety into all aspects of construction projects.
- Evaluate and select appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment for employees.
- Keep abreast of changes in safety regulations and industry standards and ensure company compliance.
- Prepare and maintain safety reports and records for internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead safety meetings, committees, and initiatives to engage employees in safety practices and promote a safety-conscious culture.
- Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
- Qualifications:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety management, preferably in civil construction.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and other relevant safety regulations and standards.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
