Madison College intends to procure contracted services for a Desktop Support Engineer IV Consultant.

The College is seeking one (1) highly motivated and capable person that will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, maintenance, and support of the College's enterprise end user computing solutions, including Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Management (MECM, formally SCCM), Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy (GP) services, file and print services, classroom and lab desktop deployments, zero and thin client configuration and management, and end user computing lifecycle management.

This position includes focus on architecting, deploying, and managing software distribution infrastructure, software deployments, application servers, and licensing servers across physical and virtual environments. Additional responsibilities include defining hardware standards, engineering, and securing the standard desktop image, end point security, and tier-three operational support. This individual must have the ability to work independently.
This position will report directly to the Director, IT Infrastructure.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Help design, implement, and maintain core enterprise end user computing management and software distribution infrastructure such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM, formally SCCM) and Azure Endpoint Manager (formally Intune).
Support, monitor, and maintain virtualized end user computing platform such as VMware Horizon View, VMware App Volumes, and VMware Dynamic Environment Manager.
Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for software application lifecycle (preparation, packaging, deployment, and maintenance) across both physical and virtual environments, including continual process improvement of software application lifecycle.
Plan, design, build, test, and deploy software application packages to physical and virtual desktop environments and ensure applications conform where necessary to the standard desktop configuration.
Identify and resolve security vulnerabilities across physical and virtual desktop environments and work closely with Information Security team to ensure end user computing systems meet established security requirements.
Support, monitor, and maintain core Microsoft technologies such as Windows 10, Windows Server 2016/2019, Active Directory (AD), Group Policy (GP), and file and print services.
Create, manage, and maintain Active Directory Organization Units (OUs), Computer Objects, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and associated custom GPO templates to ensure appropriate policy distribution.
Provide technical support and advanced troubleshooting for all end user computing systems, software applications, and system configurations while providing exceptional customer service as part of third tier help desk support structure.
Serve as an expert consultant and collaborate with district staff, including Desktop Engineers, Server/Storage Admins, Network Engineers, and Help Desk Technicians, in the day-to-day support of enterprise infrastructure.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Demonstrated skill in administering enterprise level end user computing management and software distribution technologies.
Demonstrated skill in working in a large enterprise environment supporting and maintaining core Microsoft technologies including Windows 10, Windows Server 2016/2019, and Active Directory.
Demonstrated ability of resolving complex Windows desktop and virtualization issues.
Demonstrated skill with Windows based computer hardware and software.
An expert understanding of scripting methodology and demonstrated ability to automate tasks and efficiently resolve issues.

This position will allow for "remote" working (min 2 days a week) however full week on-site working will be required as projects/workloads dictate on-site staffing needs. Main on-site working location will be at Madison College's Truax campus ( Madison WI, 53704) with periodic work having to be done at regional campuses.

The anticipated duration of this engagement is up to one year, with a possible extension. The consultant should be prepared to start by June 26th, 2023, or possibly earlier.
Preference: local to Madison, Wi or surrounding area.
Pay range - $25 to $28 per hour on W2.
