Hourly Rate: $57 W2; $65 CTC/1099

Job Description:

Systems Engineer will play a key role in the design, planning, and of the Hybrid Cloud migration project to move UW System Administration (UWSA) and UW-La Crosse (UWL) data center storage and workloads to the UW-Madison Hybrid Cloud. Responsible for backup integrity and recovery coordination and planning. Must have extensive experience with standard industry practices including security, a variety of server types and technical techniques (eg - clustering, load balancing, etc). Possess considerable logic and understanding to analyze and troubleshoot problems. Must be able to prioritize trouble calls and respond to emergencies and all levels of troubleshooting.

UWSA will be hiring two (2) contractors to fulfill these roles. UWSA and UWL have both Windows and Linux servers but are predominantly Windows in flavor. At least one of the engineers will have extensive knowledge of the M365 environment and corresponding applications to provide operational support for existing environments. Prefer experience with virtualization. Prefer with experience in moving an entire data center environment to a private, hybrid, or public cloud. Expected one-year contract but would be in place until project completion.

Required Skills:

  • 8 years of engineering experience in windows or linux (8 years)
  • Preferred Skills:

    • Experience moving a data center to a private, hybrid, or public cloud (5 years)
