Senior Cloud Engineer Project Details A Senior Cloud Engineer is part of a highly collaborative team working on a variety of software engineering tasks to create and maintain scalable and reliable platform infrastructure, supporting all aspects of the Lands' End business. Works closely with various development teams on Kubernetes cluster build and maintenance, cloud infrastructure development via Terraform, CI/CD pipeline workflow development, container artifact support, serverless computing, and automation scripting. We are a Cloud Center of Excellence and will act as education and consulting resources for project and application teams within our enterprise. As a senior level resource, additional responsibilities of this position include technical leadership, increased cross-team collaboration, mentoring of junior staff, and greater responsibility for complex problem resolution. Participation in technology road mapping and strategic planning are also required competencies at this level. Play a critical part in implementing a secure, robust and high availability software development pipeline
|
Work closely with engineers, QA, and project managers throughout the development lifecycle to successfully delivering best in class and highly available systems that range in complexity and purpose
|
Automate build & deployment processes
|
Design, develop, automate and deploy the infrastructure that powers our service.
|
Be part of our software development life cycle; participate in sprint planning sessions, retrospectives, daily standups and review pull requests from other members on your team.
|
Manage the Continuous Integration process, Deployment process, Quality Control, Systems reliability and scalability including reporting, configuration and deployment of solutions.
|
Manage operational aspects of production and development systems including Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery and validating compliance with procedures and checklists related to usage, monitoring solutions, deployment, conventions, access to production and development resources, source control access, scheduling and more.
|
Establishment of standards and processes for operations that proactively prevent problems from occurring.
|
Identify technical and process improvement recommendations based on best practices and industry standards and socialize/advocate to get them implemented.
|
Provide Technical leadership and oversight of implementation and deployment planning, system integration, ongoing data validation processes, delivery, operations, and sustainability of technical solutions.
|
Resolve conflicts by demonstrating leadership and appropriate decision-making competencies.
|
Serve as a technical leader, with increased cross team collaboration and with greater responsibility for complex problem resolution.
|
Participate in technology road mapping and strategic planning.
|
Required Skills: At least 5 years of relevant experience in the following areas:
- Cloud computing development and administration experience, especially utilizing AWS technologies such as EC2, VPC, Load Balancing, Storage, Database, Serverless and Security mechanisms
- Platform administration using Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform
- Demonstrated experience with Tomcat, Apache
- Experience with SDLC, preferably GitLab and Atlassian suites
- Demonstrated work in an agile development environment, utilizing continuous integration/deployment practices, along with experience in Atlassian suite tools such as Jira & Confluence
- Knowledge of utilizing containers in Docker/Kubernetes
- Familiarity and experience with disciplines of Cloud Sec Ops, Cloud Fin Ops, Cloud Dev Ops
- Knowledge of networking, storage, backup, and web technologies
- Experience with Linux and/or Unix
- Python, Linux/Unix Shell and/or Perl scripting
- Strong problem resolution, troubleshooting, and investigation in a cross functional and highly collaborative environment
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Terraform for creating infrastructure as code
- Experience with networking technologies such as load balancers, firewalls, DNS, web security policies and methods, caching techniques
- Experience with website and application monitoring/alerting packages, DynaTrace preferred
- Experience with Java programming & debugging
- Experience with SQL, preferably with Oracle
- Experience with VMWare and/or cloud-hosted architectures
- Exposure to job/task scheduling packages, especially Universal Automation Center is a plus
- Participation in technology road mapping and strategic planning are also required at this level
